A good friend of mine is a pastor whose mission is to minister God's healing love through prayer, counsel, and miracle faith. We have frequently discussed the importance of multiplying this ministry in others who will do the same. In every country, city, and community, there are needs that only the compassionate mercies of God can address.
When Jesus ministered in the area around Galilee, He saw the needs of the multitudes and was moved with compassion for them, ministering healing and deliverance. Besides spiritual deliverance and physical healing, His acceptance of people changed their lives as they encountered the love of the Heavenly Father. Through Jesus, they had a direct encounter with the lovingkindness of God.
In past generations, there have been great healing and evangelistic ministries. However, in this generation, many individuals will be anointed by God to minister His love. A generation of compassionate healers is what the world needs. He is calling us to bring good news to the afflicted, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives, and freedom to those who are imprisoned (see Isaiah 61:1). It can be as simple as being moved by God’s compassion to love and pray.
Jesus died to bring salvation, healing, and a restoration of life—life in relationship with God. Those who receive will also become the compassion of God to others. “Freely you received; freely give” (Matt. 10:8 NASB). Jesus said that in His glorious name, His people would compassionately minister healing and spiritual deliverance, bringing the good news of God’s love to people and nations. So, whatever your calling from God (as a parent, a teacher, a businessperson, or a missionary), there is someone you know who needs the love of God. There is someone who needs your prayer, assistance, or encouraging words. In a world full of broken homes, fractured communities, and hurting people, we can be a generation of compassionate healers. We can be a generation that stewards an outpouring of God’s love.
